Pastor J. Allen Fine, 77, of Looneyville, went to sleep in the Lord at 5:37 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012.
He was born August 29, 1934, in Knoxville, TN, the son of the late James Harris and Grace Leona Wright Fine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Fred Hopkins; and two sisters, Christine Laughlin and Bobbi Jean Cox.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Deanna Moody Fine of Looneyville; three daughters, Linda Lowder of Texas, Patti Roberts and Lisa Fine both of Colorado; a stepdaughter, Tami Kober of New York; three sons, Darren Fine of Colorado, Randy Fine of New Jersey and J. Allen Fine, II of Tennessee; two stepsons, Todd Belleau and Brian Belleau both of Colorado; 19 grandchildren and several beloved great grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Shoffner Miller and Jewell Langley both of Tennessee.
Pastor Fine was a retired 7th Day Adventist Church pastor. He pastored churches in Summersville, Spencer, Ripley, Glenville and Point Pleasant. Also, he did evangelism and seminars throughout the United States. Perhaps, he was best known for his radio program “New Sounds of Inspiration” heard locally on WVRC, Spencer and on other stations throughout the eastern U.S. and Canada.
In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, training his Huskie pups, reading and studying the Bible extensively. Also, he found great pleasure visiting throughout the area and answering questions about the Bible.
Pastor Fine will be remembered for his great love for the Lord and His truth, his compassion and his unique sense of humor.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13 in the Boulevard 7th Day Adventist Church, 622 Kanawha Blvd., W., Charleston, with Pastor Larry Boggess and Pastor Stewart Pepper officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
