Evelyn G. Goodwin

            Evelyn G. Goodwin, 59, of Spencer, died at 7:47 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer, after a sudden illness.

            She was born February 11, 1953, in Spencer, a daughter of the late Tony Earl and Goldie Maxine Greathouse Alvis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Goodwin, Sr. in 2005; and an infant brother, James Earl Alvis.

            Evelyn was a homemaker and mother.  She was a member of the Spencer Tabernacle and a 12 year volunteer for the Roane County, ACS, Relay-for-Life.  Evelyn was a 1971 graduate of Spencer High School and she enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening.

            Survivors include a son, Eddie Goodwin of Spencer; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and George Callow of Reedy; one niece, one nephew, one grand niece and three grand nephews.

            A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Spencer Tabernacle with the Rev. Loren Price officiating.  Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.  Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer and at the church one hour before the funeral.
