Staff members of Taylor Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to us and we will do all we can to carry out individual wishes and preferences.

John is a native of Roane County, a graduate of Spencer High School, attended Alderson-Broaddus College and is a graduate of the former Beckley College of Mortuary of Science.  He began working part-time for the Sinnett Funeral Home while he was a high school student and this sparked his interest in pursuing funeral service as a career.  John and his wife, Connie, purchased the funeral home from W. Clyde Sinnett, Jr. in 1989.

John is Past President of the West Virginia Funeral Directors Association.  He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Spencer, a member and past president of the Spencer Rotary Club, Past Master of the Linden Lodge #83 A.F. & A.M., member of the Jerusalem Chapter #3, R.A.M., member of the Calvary Commandery #3, Knights Templar, Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, S.J., member of the Nemesis Shriners, member of the Little Kanawha Shrine Club  and the Wetzel Chapter #27, O.E.S.  

John and Connie are the parents of two sons, Matthew and his wife, Mandy, who currently reside in Independence, KY, and Jason, who currently resides in Beckley, WV.

Connie is a native of Preston County, a graduate of Tunnelton High School and WVU-P.  She is an RN and has worked several years with Roane General Hospital and also with the Roane County Board of Education. 

She currently assists in the day-to-day operation of the funeral home and can often be found answering the phone, greeting families and visitors, preparing obituaries or memorial folders, setting up flowers, working on the funeral home web site, and performing other "behind-the scenes" duties.
She is an RN, a member of the WV Nurses Association, WVFDA, a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer, where she formerly served as President of Women's Ministries, a member of the Missions Committee, the choir, and Exaltation.  She is also a member of the Wetzel Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. 

She enjoys music, photography, sports, walking, nature, volunteering, health and wellness projects, and spending time with family and friends.

Connie and John are the parents of two sons, Matthew and Jason.

Joe is a native of Calhoun County, a 2002 graduate of Calhoun County High School, a 2010 graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, and a 2011 graduate of Point Park University. He first began working with the funeral home in 2005.

He is a member and former Chief of the Arnoldsburg Volunteer Fire Department,  the Bear Fork Hunting Club, Linden Lodge #83 A.F. & A.M., and the Beni Kedem Shrine.

Melissa is a native of Roane County and a graduate of Spencer High School.  She first began working with the Taylor Funeral Home in 1999 as a secretary.  In addition to secretarial and bookkeeping responsibilities, she also currently assists with funerals, funeral pre-arrangements, and monument sales. 

She is a member of the Spencer Church of the Nazarene.  She has a daughter, Haley, who is a student at Spencer Middle School.  

In addition to working at the funeral home, she also assists her husband, Aaron Richardson, in the maintenance and operation of the Robey Theatre in Spencer.

Allen (Pete) has worked part-time at the Taylor Funeral Home and the former Sinnett Funeral Home for several years. He assists with funerals as well as with many of the routine maintenance requirements of the facilities and vehicles. He is a native of Clay County and a U.S. Army veteran. 

He and his wife, Ora, have lived in Spencer for many years.   They have three children and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Allen enjoys purchasing, repairing and reselling used funeral equipment to funeral directors and embalmers who he has become acquainted with throughout the West Virginia and Ohio area.
