Robert F.
Cummings, Sr., 82, of Looneyville, died Friday, June 3,
2004, in the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
He was born
May 1, 1922, in Clay County, a son of the late Charlie H.
and Genettie Strange Cummings. In addition to his parents,
he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine A. Smith
Cummings; one infant son; two brothers; and three sisters.
Mr. Cummings
was a retired employee of the W.Va. Department of Highways
and a former coal miner and track walker for the rail road.
Survivors
include two sons, Robert F. Cummings, Jr. of Powhatan, VA
and Doyle L. Cummings of Glen Allen, VA; four daughters,
Janette Ramsey, Loretta Cummings and JoAnn Scanlon all of
Spencer, Dolores McKaughan Keiffer of Evans; one sister,
Emma McKinney of Newton; eight grandchildren and nine great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral
service was conducted Saturday, June 5 at 11:00 a.m. in the
John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Fred
Patterson officiating. Burial was in the Smith Cemetery,
Harrison, Clay County.
