Camden Coy Ferrell, 85, of Charleston, died quietly Wednesday,
October 20, 2004,
in the St. Francis Hospital, Charleston, following a lengthy
illness.
He was born
March 12, 1919,
at Looneyville,
Roane
County,
the fifth of nine children of Coy C. and Mae Lowery Ferrell. In
addition to his parents, one brother and seven sisters, he was
preceded in death by his wives, Maysel Hastings Ferrell and
Virginia Boggs Ferrell.
Mr. Ferrell retired in 1979 from E.I. DuPont at the Belle plant,
where he had worked for 32 years. He served in the
U.S.
Army Air Force during World War II. He was a 50 year member and
Past Master of the
Linden
Lodge No. 83, A.F. & A.M.,
Linden.
He was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church,
Kanawha
City.
He was educated in the public schools of
Roane
County,
graduating from
Spencer
High School
in 1937. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from
Morris
Harvey
College.
Mr. Ferrell was elected, installed and served as the 100th
Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free
and Accepted Masons in West Virginia. In 1979, he was elected
and served as the Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge for several
years.
Survivors include his close friend, “C.C.”; 19 nieces and
nephews, several grand nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Sunday, October 24 at 2:30
p.m.
in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Leon
B. Strickland officiating. Burial, with Masonic graveside rites
conducted by the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and
Accepted Masons in
West Virginia,
will be in
Clover
Cemetery,
Clover.
Friends may call at the Stevens and Grass Funeral Home,
Malden,
from
6-8 p.m.
Friday, October 22 and at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home,
Spencer, from 6-8 p.m.
