Clayton N. “Whitey” Evans, 88, of Spencer, formerly of Walton,
died Sunday, October 24, 2004,
in the Ravenswood Care Center, Ravenswood.
He was born
April 25, 1916,
in
Holmes County,
FL,
a son of the late Eli William and Pearl
Ide Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by his wife, Laura Margaret Buckner Evans in 1995; a grandson,
Arison Hunt; two brothers, Ray and Orville Evans; four sisters,
Fannie Peters, Lillian Stanley, Virginia Kantack and Devota Hays
Jarrett.
Mr. Evans was a retired employee of E.I. DuPont, Belle, an Army
veteran of World War II and a graduate of the Elk District High
School, Elkview. He was active in several civic projects in the
Walton area.
Survivors include a daughter, Lola Hunt of Spencer; two sons,
C.N. “Joe” Evans, Jr. of Spencer and Randy Evans of Walton; one
brother, Edward Evans of Spencer; five grandsons, Jeffery B.
Hunt of Charleston, Patrick Hunt of Winchester, KY, Brian C.
Hunt of Walton, Nathan J. Evans of San Marcos, CA, Bradley Evans
of Walton; one granddaughter, Stephanie Evans of Clendenin; 11
great grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, October
27 at 11:00 a.m. in the
Gandeeville
Cemetery,
Gandeeville, with Pastor Rick Perrine and Pastor Smith Epling
officiating.
Friends may call at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer,
from 6-8 p.m.
on Tuesday, October 26.
