Evelyn Simons, 91, of Spencer, died Monday, June 16, 2008, in the Roane General Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility, after an extended stay.

She was born Tuesday, September 26, 1916 at Oka, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Calvin and Emma Jarvis Truman.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Simons; one son, Osvie Simons; five brothers, Greeley, Lawrence, Lovell, Nelson and Brooks Truman; two sisters, Janivee Matheny and Gertie Simons.

Evelyn was a homemaker and had attended the Memorial United Methodist Church, Spencer.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, June 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Michael F. “Mike” King officiating.  Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.

Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the service.
